Air Conditioning
Install Cost
INSTALL COST:
Depending on the size of your home, the efficiency and brand of the desired unit, and the location of your furnace, the cost for an AC install currently starts at $6,000 for most homes. This out-the-door price includes all supplies, labor, taxes, permits, the licensed electrician, and inspection. We have upfront pricing and no hidden fees.
LIFE EXPECTANCY:
At this elevation, air conditioners have an average life expectancy of 18 - 20 years. But we have seen some well-maintained air conditioners last even longer!
AC AND HEATING SYSTEM:
If your existing furnace was manufactured in the last 20 years, it should be equipped to operate with a new air conditioner. Although both share the same blower motor and ductwork, the heating and cooling systems are not dependent on each other.
However, if you wish to replace your existing furnace at the same time for the highest efficiency, we offer additional savings when an AC and furnace are installed simultaneously.
EFFICIENCY:
If you plan to be in your home for 10 years or longer, a high efficiency air conditioner will save you money over the life of your unit. Otherwise, a standard unit should be sufficient, and they have a lower up-front cost.
CRAWL SPACE OR ATTIC:
If your furnace is located in a crawlspace or attic, the price may be slightly higher than if it is located in a basement. This is because of the additional ductwork, electrical, and mechanical components, such as adding a condensate pump. Give us a call for a free estimate.
PREWIRED FOR AC:
If your home is prewired for AC with electric and refrigerant lines, the install cost will be lower. An electrical permit is still required for prewired houses, but this will save you hundreds of dollars.

Furnace
Replacement Cost
INSTALL COST:
Depending on the size of your home, the efficiency and brand of the desired unit, and the location of your current furnace, the replacement cost for an 80% efficiency gas furnace currently starts at $4,300 for most homes. This out-the-door price includes all supplies, labor, taxes, permits, and the inspection. We have upfront pricing and no hidden fees.
LIFE EXPECTANCY:
At this elevation, furnaces have a life expectancy of around 20 - 25 years. But we have seen some well-maintained furnaces last even longer!
EFFICIENCY:
The minimum requirement for furnaces is 80% efficiency. Part of the heat (20%) is carried out of the flue pipe with the exhaust. Higher efficiency furnaces are available up to 98%, however the existing metal flue pipe has to be replaced with PVC or similar material because of the moisture. If you currently have a high efficiency furnace, the replacement is an easy process.
If you plan to be in your home for 10 years or longer, a high efficiency furnace will save you money over the life of your unit. Otherwise, a standard unit should be sufficient, and they have a lower up-front cost.
TWO-STAGE FURNACE:
If you are looking for a way to save on utilities, a two-stage furnace might be right for you. The furnace will operate on low heat and low fan when it starts. If the home requires more heat, the furnace will run at full heat until the house is warm and cycle back to the low heat when the furnace starts again.
